ACTnano, Inc., is a nanotechnology company that was founded in Chicago, Illinois, in 2012 according to the guiding vision of founder, CEO, and Chairman Taymur Ahmad. Mr. Ahmad, who has a degree in engineering enjoyed an extensive first career in electronics manufacturing management. As a result of this work, he was intimately acquainted with the immense challenges manufacturers face in trying to protect their electronic devices from the destructive effects of water, oil, and dirt. His first-hand experience with the dramatic shortcomings of conformal coatings led him to believe that there had to be a better way to protect vulnerable electronic components like PCBAs than ineffective relics of the mid-twentieth century like conformal coatings. With this belief firmly in mind, he embarked on a mission to field a more effective coating solution. That mission soon led him into the emerging nanotechnology field.

As a result of Mr. Ahmad’s driving vision of a world where everything, from sensitive electronic devices to clothing, can be protected from water, oil, and dirt by the nano-scale application (“nano” being defined one-billionth of a meter) of materials designed to repel these agents, he left the electronics manufacturing world and founded ACTnano. His dream was to offer electronics manufacturers superior, nano-scale water-, oil-, and dirt-repellent coating solutions that were completely undetectable by the unaided human senses of sight, touch, and smell.

Today, Mr. Ahmad’s dream is a reality. The extensive and unique family of Advanced nanoGUARD (ANG) coatings now offered by ACTnano presents manufacturers of electronics and textiles with multiple chemistries and application methods that will help them achieve their goals in water, oil, and dirt protection by providing everyday products with twenty-first-century coatings.
